On May 30, 2026, the Mira Costa High School baseball team captured their first CIF-Southern Section Division 3 championship since 1953, defeating Agoura 9-7 in a thrilling comeback victory at CSU Fullerton’s Goodwin Field. The Mustangs faced an early 6-1 deficit, but their perseverance shone through in the fifth inning when they erupted for five runs to climb back into the game. Key contributions included a decisive three-run, bases-loaded triple by catcher Kellan Finn and a clutch, game-leading home run by Nick Feidler. The victory was secured by closer Connor Collins, who effectively stifled the Chargers in the final innings to end the school's 70-year title drought. This historic win marked the program's second-ever CIF crown and served as the highlight of a dominant month for Mira Costa athletics.

Building on the momentum of a historic season, the Mira Costa Baseball Varsity team enters 2026 ready to defend their title as undefeated Bay League Champions. Coming off a record-breaking year that saw the best winning percentage in school history, the Mustangs have set a high bar for this upcoming 28-game campaign. The action kicks off in mid-February with the Easton Tournament, followed by a rigorous slate of non-league challenges and a highly anticipated home-and-home Bay League series. From the opening pitch against Chatsworth on February 16th to the regular-season finale and Senior Day celebration against Fullerton on May 6th, every game is an opportunity to witness this elite program in action.

About Us
2026 marks the 75th anniversary of the Mira Costa Mustangs Baseball program, highlighted by a historic CIF Championship—the program's first title in 73 years. Over its storied history, the team has captured two (2) CIF Championships, four (4) CIF Finals appearances, twenty-two (22) CIF Playoff berths, three (3) Pioneer/Ocean League Championships, and ten (10) Bay League Championships.

MLB Representation: Costa Baseball alumni are making an impact at the highest level, led by Kyle Karros ('20) with the Colorado Rockies, Chase Meidroth ('19) with the Chicago White Sox, and Petey Halpin ('20) with the Cleveland Guardians. Jared Karros ('19) continues his professional career in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.

Collegiate Success: Thatcher Hurd ('21) delivered a legendary performance as the winning pitcher in Game 3 of the 2023 College World Series for the LSU Tigers, securing their 7th National Championship before being selected in the 2024 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees.

2023 Draft Class: The 2023 MLB Draft saw two additional Mustangs selected, with Merrick Baldo drafted by the Washington Nationals alongside Kyle Karros.
