Varsity

Building on the momentum of a dominant championship run, the Mira Costa Baseball Varsity team enters the 2026 season with a massive target on its back and the talent to defend it. Last year’s squad set a gold standard for the program, blending clinical defense with an explosive offense that left opponents struggling to keep pace. This year, the Mustangs aren't just relying on past glory; they are fueled by a roster brimming with elite talent and high-level college commitments. Leading the charge is standout Garrett Jacobs, whose commitment to UCLA underscores the caliber of play expected at Waller Field. With Jacobs anchoring the lineup and a deep rotation of battle-tested veterans, Mira Costa is well-positioned to turn last year’s dominance into a sustained dynasty in the Bay League.

Jr. Varsity

Not to be outshone by their Varsity counterparts, the Mira Costa JV Baseball team enters the 2026 season carrying the prestige of a Bay League Championship title. Last year, the squad proved they were more than just a developmental group; they were a powerhouse in their own right, showcasing a "next man up" mentality and a fundamental toughness that wore down every rival in the league. As these young Mustangs transition from being the hunters to the hunted, the focus remains on maintaining that championship culture and refining the skills that will eventually feed into the Varsity dynasty. With a fresh crop of talent hungry to prove themselves and returning sophomores eager to go back-to-back, the JV program continues to be the bedrock of Mira Costa’s sustained success on the diamond.

Freshman

The Mira Costa Freshman (Frosh/Soph) team serves as the vital engine room for the entire program, a fact punctuated by their own Bay League title last season. Under the veteran guidance of coaches like Frank Wicks, who has spent over a decade molding young Mustangs, the freshman squad is where the "culture of care" and the "Big on Big" philosophy first take root. By emphasizing fundamental excellence and clutch performance, the program ensures that every player—from standout hitters like Connor Collins and Hank McPhee to the deep pitching rotation—understands the weight of the Mira Costa jersey before they ever step onto the Varsity field. This developmental bedrock is the reason the Mustangs don't just have "good years," but instead maintain a self-sustaining cycle of elite, championship-ready talent.
